Some knowledge about common defects in aluminum alloy strips.

Surface bubble

1 Definition: Irregular round or strip cavity protrusion on the surface of the plate and strip. The raised edges are rounded, the plates are asymmetrical, and the distribution is irregular.

2 main causes

a) The surface of the ingot is uneven and unclean, and the surface segregation depth is deep;

b) the milling surface is small or the surface is defective, such as: the dent or the milling cutter is deep;

c) the emulsion or air enters between the aluminum clad and the ingot;

d) The ingot heating temperature is too high or the time is too long.

2. Burr

1 Definition: The plate and strip are cut, and there are thin short wires or sharp and thin metal thorns on the edges.

2 main causes

a) the cutting edge is not sharp;

b) poor cutting of the cutting edge;

c) The cutting edge clearance and the amount of overlap are not properly adjusted. ! ! !

3. Imprint

1 Definition: There are single or periodic depressions or bulges on the surface of the aluminum alloy sheet and strip. The depression or bulge is smooth.

2 main causes

a) the surface of the rolls, guide rolls, etc. are stuck with metal shavings or dirt;

b) other process equipment (such as straighteners, guide rollers) have defects on the surface or adhere to dirt;

c) the surface of the sleeve is not clean, uneven and there are smooth protrusions;

d) when the coil is taken, the aluminum plate and the belt are adhered to foreign matter;

Cracked edge

1 Definition: The edges of the plates and strips are broken, and they are jagged in severe cases.

2 main causes

a) Ingot temperature is low, intermediate annealing or homogenization annealing is insufficient, → metal plasticity is poor;

b) improper control of the roll type, causing tensile stress on the edge of the plate and the belt;

c) the side package aluminum is incomplete;

d) damage to the end face, which cannot be eliminated after trimming;

e) the processing rate of the pass is too large;

6. Hole

b) the rolling process lubricant is not clean;
